Shewanta Garden Plants & Material is located at 83/84 Hinjawadi Mitramnadal in the Parvati area. We are right near the Laxminarayan Theatre and just opposite Hotel Malwani Gajali. It’s a spot that’s easy to find if you know those landmarks. The place is full of green, obviously. We spend most of our time outdoors or in the shaded areas moving pots around. It’s dirty work, with soil getting everywhere, under our fingernails and on our clothes. We don't mind it though. The air feels a bit different here because of all the plants. We have all sorts of materials piled up in the back, from bags of fertilizer to stacks of pots. Sometimes the rows of plants get a bit overgrown and we have to spend the whole day pruning. It’s not a high-tech operation. We use hoses and shovels and our hands. People from the neighborhood stop by to look around or ask for advice on their own gardens. We just tell them what we know from years of doing this. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, but there is usually a bit of shade to be found. We don't have a big philosophy about it. We just like growing things and making sure they stay healthy until they go to a new home. It is a simple life and it keeps us busy outside in the fresh air every day we come in.
