We are out at Gat No. 27 in Takli, which people around here often call Dhorkin. It’s in the Paithan taluka of Aurangabad. Sarjerao Mule Producer Company Limited is basically run from this plot of land. It’s not a fancy corporate park, just a rural spot where we get things done. Being in Paithan, we are surrounded by fields, so it made sense to set up right where the work happens. The office at Gat No. 27 is where the records live and where we meet to talk about the upcoming seasons. We aren't polished business people with suits and ties. Most of us have dirt under our fingernails from being out in the fields earlier in the day. Our days are spent worrying about the water levels and making sure the local farmers have what they need to get their crops to the market. It is a lot of coordination and simple math. We don't have a mission statement or a bunch of slogans to share. We just have a goal of staying afloat and helping the community here in Takli do the same. The building is simple and the work is often repetitive, but it is necessary. If you come by, you’ll probably find someone drinking tea and looking over a pile of receipts from the week. That is the reality of a small producer company. We are just part of the local landscape, trying to make the farming business work for the people living in 431105.
