If you head over to Nilajgaon in the Aurangabad district, you’ll find Samatdada Farmer Producer Company Limited. We are located at Gn 128, which is where we do most of our organizing. The whole idea started because a bunch of us in the Paithan taluka area wanted to find a better way to manage our farms. It’s a collective effort, really. We don’t have fancy slogans or a marketing department. We just have our hands and the land we work every day. Being a farmer producer company means we try to look out for the local growers around Nilajgaon. We talk about what crops are doing well and how we can get them to the market without too much trouble. It’s a lot of practical, day-to-day stuff. Sometimes we meet up after a long day in the heat to look over the numbers and see how the season is going. It's not always pretty, and there's a lot of mud and dirt involved in what we do, but it's our life. We want to make sure that the next generation has something solid to hold onto here. We stay busy with the planting and the harvesting, and the company is just our way of staying organized through it all. It’s a simple setup at Gn 128, but it works for us and the families involved in the group. We are just simple people trying to make a living from the earth.
