Samarth Varieties

You’ll find us at Deogiri Apartments, right across from the Ganraj Hotel on Solapur Road. We are in Sadashiv Peth, which is a very traditional and busy part of the city. Samarth Varieties is a small shop tucked into the ground floor of the building. We’ve been here at 1893/4 for quite a while now. The area is always bustling with people going to the hotel for a meal or just walking through the Peth. Our shop is filled with a huge variety of different goods. We try to keep things that the people living in the neighborhood actually use every day. It’s definitely not a high-end or expensive place. We have old wooden shelves that we’ve used for many years. Sometimes it’s hard to find space for new stock because we already have so many items packed in. We know most of the people who live in Deogiri Apartments. They drop in to grab something they forgot to buy earlier or just to say hello. Working here is mostly about being patient and helping people find what they need in the stacks. Solapur Road can get very congested with cars, especially in the evenings. We usually keep the front doors open to let some air in, even if it brings in some dust from the road. It’s a very straightforward business. We don't use any complicated computer systems. We just write things down and keep track of everything.
