Sai Pan Shop

If you’re driving along the Kodigehalli-Thindlu Main Road in Chinchwad, you’ll see Sai Pan Shop. It’s right there on the side of the road. It’s a basic shop, really. We have a small roof over the front so people can stand out of the sun. The main road is always noisy with bikes and trucks passing by. We spend a lot of our time just watching the traffic and waiting for the next customer. We keep all the different mixtures in little plastic containers on the counter. It isn't a fancy setup, but it works for us. We’ve got some stools if you want to sit for a minute, though most people are in a hurry. The dust from the road gets on everything, so we’re always dusting off the shelves and the glass. We don't have any big advertisements. The name Sai Pan Shop is just painted on the front. We get a mix of people—some travelers passing through and some locals who live just around the corner in Chinchwad. It’s a simple way to make a living. We don't have a big team, just a few of us taking turns behind the counter. The nights are usually our busiest time when the heat dies down a little. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing for years. It’s a reliable spot on a busy road, and we plan to stay right here.
