You can find R J Lahoti & Co over at Shreepal Chambers in Shaniwar Peth. We are at number 21, right across from the Shaniwar Wada which everyone knows. Being near the Sakal Press means there is always something happening outside our windows. This part of Pune is full of history, but our daily life is mostly focused on the ledger books and the computer screens. The office is a bit cramped because we have so many files archived from over the years. We’ve been in Shaniwar Peth for quite a long time now. The building is one of those typical Pune structures where you have to know which staircase to take. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there talking until the generator kicks in or the lights come back. It’s a regular office with a couple of desks, a water cooler that makes a loud gulping noise, and a few chairs for visitors. We don’t go in for fancy decorations or anything like that. Most of our day is spent answering the phone or typing up documents. It’s a local business through and through. We know the shopkeepers nearby and usually grab tea from the stall on the corner. It gets very busy during the festival seasons around here, making it hard to find a spot to park the bike. But we like being in the heart of the city.
