Working at S-84 in the MIDC area of Bhosari in Pune means being part of a massive industrial ecosystem. Our building is a standard industrial unit where we put together oil skimming systems. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a quiet chat, as there’s always some tool buzzing or a forklift moving crates around the floor. The floors are concrete and usually have a few spots where oil has dripped, which is fitting given what we build here. Pune’s weather can be nice, but inside the shed at Bhosari, it gets quite warm during the summer months. We have a small team of people who know how to weld and assemble the parts so the skimmers actually work when they get to the customer. We spend a lot of time checking the belts and the motors to make sure nothing is loose. The MIDC roads are always busy with people commuting from different parts of the city, so we try to get our shipping done early to avoid the worst of the Pune traffic. Our office area is just a small corner partitioned off from the main production space, filled with files and some old computers. We keep things simple and focus on the assembly line, making sure we have enough raw materials in stock to keep the work moving without stopping for parts. It is a straightforward business and we try to keep things organized despite the mess.
