Pratiksha Beauty Parlour

Down at Ser No 139 on the Main Road in Nana Peth, you’ll find Pratiksha Beauty Parlour. We are right in the middle of all the noise and traffic of Pune 411002. It’s a small shop, but we make it work. Most of the women who live around here come in for a quick threading or to get their hair braided. We don’t have any of those big reclining chairs you see in malls. Our chairs are just basic, but they get the job done. The mirror has a small crack in the corner, but it doesn’t get in the way of seeing what we are doing. We’ve been here in Nana Peth for quite some time now. It’s a friendly neighborhood where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We listen to a lot of stories while we work. Sometimes someone brings us tea from the stall nearby. We don’t do appointments through apps or anything; people just walk in and wait their turn on the bench outside. It’s a bit cramped when it’s raining, but we manage to stay dry. We use simple creams and powders that we’ve used for years. It’s a humble place, honestly. We just try to help people look a little better for a wedding or a festival. There isn't much more to it than that. We open when the market opens and stay until the street lights come on. It is a steady way to spend the day in the city.
