Prakash Gift & Murti

Prakash Gift & Murti is right in the Priyadarshan Market, sitting just across from the Rupali Hotel in Pune. It’s a busy spot, especially on weekends when the market gets crowded. We deal with gifts and also have a selection of murtis for people who want something for their home shrines. The shop is right at the front, so it’s hard to miss if you’re walking by the hotel. We’ve been here for a long time and have seen the market change quite a bit over the years. The shop is usually filled with the smell of incense because of the murtis we keep. It’s not a very big space, so we have to stack things pretty high sometimes. You have to be careful not to bump into anything when you walk through the aisles. We don't really have a sales pitch or anything like that. If someone likes a statue or a gift, they buy it. We just sit here and help out when someone asks for a price. Most of our day is spent cleaning the glass cases or talking to the other shop owners in the market. It’s a lively place to work. The street noise from Pune is always there in the background, but you get used to it after a while. We just keep doing our thing, day in and day out.
