Pradip Plastic Moulders is on the ground floor of Radha Nilayam, right on Church Road in the Murugeshpalaya Vimanapura area. If you come by D-5, that’s where we are. The shop is more of a workshop than anything else. You can usually hear the sound of the machines from the street. There’s always a faint smell of warm plastic in the air, which I’ve stopped noticing after all these years. We have different molds and pieces of plastic scattered around the floor and on the heavy metal tables. It’s a messy process, and our clothes usually end up with some bits of plastic or grease on them from our greasy hands. We work on various parts and pieces depending on what’s needed that day. The ground floor location is good because it’s easier to move the raw materials in and out without using a lift. It can get quite cramped when we have a lot of orders, and you have to watch your step so you don’t trip over a crate. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If you come in, you’ll likely see us working at the back. We just focus on getting the shapes right and making sure the machines are running properly. It’s hard work, and the hours can be long, but it’s what we do here in Chinchwad. It’s just a plain workshop doing its job every day.
