Pitruchaya Farmer Producer Company Limited is situated in Rahere. That’s in the Ghanasawangi taluka of Jalna district. We are set up at Gat No 225. It’s a local farming group, nothing more and nothing less. The name Pitruchaya is something that means a lot to us personally, but the business itself is all about the land. We are right in the heart of the village. Most days, you’ll find us out in the fields or sitting around Gat No 225 talking about the crops. Jalna is a tough place for farmers sometimes because of the weather, but we make do. We started this company because we realized that we could get better deals on fertilizer and seeds if we bought them as a group. It’s common sense, really. There’s no big corporate office with air conditioning here. We just have our small space where we keep the books and meet with other farmers from Rahere. We try to help each other out when someone has a problem with their harvest. It’s a community thing. We don’t really do any promotion. People know us because we are their neighbors. If you’re coming through Ghanasawangi, Rahere isn’t hard to find, and once you’re there, everyone knows where Gat No 225 is. We are just local people working the land and trying to keep things going for our families and our village. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know.
