Persian Saloon

The Persian Saloon is right there on Dastur Meher Road, over in the Camp area of Pune. It’s a familiar spot near J.J. Garden where the local crowd usually stops by. The shop isn't anything fancy, just a couple of sturdy chairs and big mirrors that have seen a lot of years. We open up early in the morning, usually around the time the neighborhood starts waking up. You can hear the sounds of the street and the bikes passing by while sitting inside. We have been at this address, 827, for quite a while now. Most days are steady, with people coming in for a basic trim or a clean shave before heading to work. The floor gets covered in hair pretty quickly, so we keep a broom handy to tidy up between customers. There is a small bench for people to sit on if there is a wait, and maybe an old newspaper to read. We don't use any big advertisements; people just know we are here because they’ve been coming since they were kids. The air smells like tonic and soap. When the sun hits the window in the afternoon, the whole place brightens up. It is a simple life running a shop in Pune Camp. We just take care of the people who walk through the door and make sure they leave looking a bit better than when they came in. It's just us doing our daily work.
