Out here on Sinhagad Road in Vadgaon Budruk, things can get pretty hectic with the traffic. Our place is at Survey No 36/1/ C. It’s a decent-sized spot where we handle all the Peppermint Clothing work. We spend a lot of time just moving stuff from the back to the front. The floor is usually covered in bits of thread and plastic wrapping because we’re always opening something. It’s a very hands-on environment. We don’t have managers in suits walking around. Everyone just does what needs to be done. If a truck arrives, everyone helps unload. If the floor needs sweeping, someone picks up a broom. We have some heavy racks that we’ve had for years, and they are always loaded down with garments. The sun hits the front of the building in the afternoon, so it gets a bit warm inside. We just turn on the big wall fans and keep moving. Most of our day is spent counting items and checking them against the lists we get. It’s repetitive, but it’s what we do. We like being in this part of Pune. It’s busy but not like the city center. There are some small shops nearby where we go for snacks. We just try to keep things organized so we don’t lose track of anything. It’s a simple operation, run by people who have been doing this for a long time, just making it work.
