Parmar Novelty

Out here in Katraj, at Shop Number 6 in Balaji Prasana Heights, things stay pretty steady. We are tucked away on the 2nd Cross, 16th Main, right off Pipeline Road. The shop is filled with all the novelty items you can think of. We have little statues, fancy pens, and decorations for festivals. The light in the shop is a bit dim towards the back, but it makes it feel cozy. Katraj is a busy area, but our street is a little quieter than the main road. I spend my time unpacking boxes of new stock that come in. Sometimes the boxes are crushed, and I have to check if anything inside is broken. It’s a lot of bubble wrap and cardboard to deal with. I like seeing what new designs they’ve come up with for the keychains and wall hangings. My wife helps me out during the holidays when everyone wants gifts. The floor is a bit uneven, so a couple of the display cases wobble if you lean on them. I should probably put some folded paper under the legs. We get a lot of college students coming through looking for cheap presents for their friends. It’s a good spot to be, even if it gets a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. Just a simple shop doing its thing every day. The neighbor brings me coffee sometimes when I can't leave the counter. I keep a small mirror by the door to check things.
