Palko Mould Mech

Palko Mould Mech is located at 43/2 Erandwane, right behind Rescon. It’s a bit hard to find if you aren’t looking for it. We work with moulds and mechanical parts. The shop is filled with machines that have been with us for years. They aren't the newest models, but they work just fine if you know how to handle them. Most of our day is spent at the workbench. There is oil and grease everywhere, but that's part of the job. We take on small jobs and some bigger ones too, depending on what people bring us. My brother handles the lathe, and I do the finishing work. We don't have a receptionist or anything. If the phone rings, one of us just wipes our hands on a rag and picks it up. Erandwane is a good spot for us, even if the lane is a bit narrow for big trucks. Sometimes we stay late to finish a piece because we told someone it would be ready. We don't do much talking while we work; the machines are too loud for that. It’s a lot of measuring and double-checking. We’ve had to learn everything by doing it over and over again. It’s not a glamorous life, but we like working with our hands and seeing the final product come together properly. We focus on the task at hand and try to make sure every single mould we finish meets the requirements we were given.
