About Om Sweets & Dry Fruit – Food & Beverages in Pune
Our shop, Om Sweets & Dry Fruit, is located in the Sangavi neighborhood. It's a place where I spend most of my waking hours. The dry fruits are kept in large jars and containers along the back wall, and I have to check them every day to make sure everything is in its place. Sangavi is pretty crowded, and there is always a lot of shouting and honking going on right outside the door. I’ve lived here long enough that I don't really notice the noise anymore. The morning starts with me dragging the heavy bags of stock inside and organizing the shelves. The floor is made of old tiles that have a few cracks in them, but I keep them swept clean. We don't have any fancy lighting or modern decorations at Om Sweets & Dry Fruit. It’s just a basic shop with wooden counters and glass jars. I have a small radio that I keep on a low volume just to have some background noise when it’s quiet. Sometimes the neighborhood kids come in and stare at the sweets for a long time before buying anything. I just let them take their time. In the evenings, the street lights come on and the shop looks a bit different under the yellow glow. I stay until fairly late because Sangavi stays busy until the sun goes down. It’s a steady kind of work, and I’ve gotten used to the daily flow of people coming in and out. I just keep the jars filled and the counter clean for whoever stops by.
