Om Sai Ram Aluminium Works

We have been here at Lohar Chawl 3 in Kalyan for a long time now. It is a busy spot and most of our days start quite early when we pull up the shutter. People around this neighborhood know us for doing basic aluminium jobs. It might be a frame for a kitchen window or a bathroom door that needs fixing. We have the usual tools lying around and there is always some scrap metal in the corner. Sometimes it gets a bit loud with the cutting machine going but that is just how the work goes. We do not have a big fancy office or anything like that. It is just the workspace where we cut the metal sections and join them up. Most of the time neighbors just drop by to ask if we can come over to look at a broken hinge or a sliding track that is stuck. We try to get to them when the current job is finished. It is dusty work. Every corner has some pieces of metal left over. We keep things simple here. If someone needs a shelf or a frame they tell us the size they want. We write it down on a piece of paper and get to work. It is not anything special just honest work with our hands. Usually we finish up by evening and head home. The shop has been a part of this lane for years and we know the tea stall guy and the other shopkeepers. It feels like a small community here.
