Novel Sewing Machine Co. is right in the heart of Raviwar Peth. We are in office number 777, which people say is a lucky number, but for us, it’s just where we keep the machines. We are directly opposite Gujrati High School, so during the day, we hear the kids playing and the school bells ringing. It’s a busy area with lots of narrow lanes and people rushing around. Inside our place, you’ll find parts and needles and old sewing machines all over. It smells a bit like machine oil and old wood in here. We spend most of our time tinkering with things or helping someone find the right part for a machine they’ve had for twenty years. We don't really care about having a modern showroom. We like the old-fashioned way of doing things, where you can actually touch the equipment and see how it works. Sometimes a customer comes in just to chat about how their grandmother used a similar model. It’s a local business through and through. We know the milkman and the tea seller on the corner by name. When the monsoon hits, we have to make sure the roof doesn't leak on the stock, but otherwise, things go pretty smooth. It’s just us and the machines, day in and day out, making sure things keep running like they should.
