Not Employeed Curently

Life at Kartik Hostel is never really quiet. We are right on the New Mumbai Pune Highway in Wakad. There’s always someone coming or going. The name Not Employeed Curently is what we use because that’s the reality for a lot of us here right now. It’s a place for people trying to find their next step. The rooms are small and the bunk beds aren't the softest, but it’s a roof over our heads. We spend a lot of time in the common areas talking about what’s next. You hear the bikes zooming past on the highway all night long. In Wakad, everything is growing so fast, with new buildings going up every week. Our hostel is just one of many, but we’ve got a good group here. We don't have a big corporate mission. We just try to get through the day and maybe help each other out with a lead or some advice. The food in the mess is okay, mostly dal and rice, and we eat together when we can. It’s a temporary spot for most, but for now, it’s home. We don't have any fancy equipment or a boardroom. Just some plastic chairs and a TV that barely works. It’s a practical place for practical people. If you’re passing through Wakad on the way to Mumbai, you’ve probably driven right past us without even knowing it. It is just a simple way to get by.
