Neelkamal Novelties sits in Kumbhar Chawadi, which is part of Dhayari Gao near Sinhagad Road. If you know the area, you know it can get pretty packed with traffic. Our shop is tucked away a bit. We started this because we saw people in the neighborhood always needed small things and didn't want to travel far. We sell all sorts of items like hair clips, small toys, bangles, and stationery. It’s a humble setup. The walls are covered in hooks holding packets of stuff. Sometimes the fans don't work that well when it's really hot outside, but we manage. Most of our customers are women from the nearby houses or kids looking for something to play with after school. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Pune. We just stay open every day and talk to the people who walk in. It’s mostly just us chatting about the weather or the local news while we bag up their items. The floor gets swept a few times a day but with the wind blowing off the main road, it’s a constant battle. We keep a ledger for everything and things are done the old-fashioned way. It isn't a high-tech operation, just a local business trying to keep the shelves stocked for the people living around Kumbhar Chawadi. We’ve been here long enough that we know most kids by their names.
