Working out of Vardhaman Society in Lonavla is quite different from being in a big city. It’s much more peaceful here, though it gets very crowded with tourists on the weekends. Our office is in Sno 24 1, and it’s basically a converted residential space. This means we have a proper kitchen and a small balcony where we can see the hills when the fog isn’t too thick. The air is definitely cleaner up here. We spend our days mostly on the computer, handling data and coordination tasks. Because we are in a society, we have to keep the noise down so we don’t bother the neighbors. It feels more like a home than a workplace sometimes. We usually bring our own lunch or get something simple from the local shops nearby. The monsoon season is something else here; it rains for days on end and everything gets a bit damp. We have a lot of umbrellas standing by the door. We aren’t a huge operation with hundreds of employees. It’s just a small group of us who enjoy the quieter pace of Lonavla. We don't have a big corporate lobby or a receptionist. If someone knocks, whoever is closest to the door goes to answer it. It’s a very informal way of doing things, but we prefer it that way.
