Navprabha Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is a bit different because it’s run by the women here in Gondpipari, Chandrapur. We are located near the bus stop in Karanji, at the Ujawal Prabhag Sangha office. It’s a group of us who decided that we could handle the business side of farming just as well as anyone else. We grew up on these farms and have always been involved in the work, so it made sense to start our own producer company. Chandrapur can be a very hot and demanding place to work, but we are used to it. Our office is a simple spot where we gather to talk about seeds, harvesting, and how to get our goods to market. It’s not fancy at all. There are usually children around and a lot of local talk while we do our paperwork. We don't use any corporate jargon. We just speak plainly about what we need to get done. Working as a group of women gives us a lot of strength and we help each other out when things get difficult at home or in the fields. We are trying to make sure our voices are heard in the agricultural world. It’s a slow process and we are learning as we go. We don't have everything figured out, but we are dedicated to our land and our families in Gondpipari. That's the main thing for us.
