We are located at 338 Rasta Peth, right near the Apollo Theatre. Being near the theatre means we see a lot of people when the movies let out. The shop is a bit of a throwback because we still handle radios along with watches. Not many people use those old transistor radios anymore, but you’d be surprised how many older folks in Pune still bring them in for repair. They have a sound that the new phones just can’t match. Our shop smells a bit like old solder and dust. We have shelves full of spare parts that have been sitting there since my father’s time. Some of the watches we sell are quite basic because that’s what the local people need. We don't go for the really expensive brands. It’s more about stuff that lasts. I sit near the window for the natural light, which helps when I’m trying to see those tiny screws in a watch movement. Rasta Peth is an old neighborhood and it has a certain character that you don't find in the newer parts of the city. We know the other shopkeepers around here and we often share a meal or a tea in the afternoon. It’s a slow pace of life inside the shop even if the street outside is rushing by. We keep the doors open to let the breeze in, even when the dust from the road comes with it.
