Monas Beauty Parlour

Monas Beauty Parlour is over in Sadashiv Peth, inside a building called Vishnu Sadan. This part of Pune is very traditional, with narrow lanes and lots of old structures. Our parlour is a quiet little space away from the main hustle. We have been here for quite some time now. Most of the women who visit us live right here in the Peth. They come in for their regular eyebrows or a quick hair wash. It’s a very informal atmosphere. We often talk about local news or what’s happening in the market while we work. The room is decorated simply with things we’ve gathered over the years. It’s not a high-tech salon; we do things the traditional way. We have our favorite brands of products that we’ve used for a long time. The lighting is a bit soft, which makes it feel relaxed. Sometimes the bells from the nearby temples provide a background sound to our day. We start our work around mid-morning and go on until the evening. We don't really have a receptionist, so we just answer the phone ourselves between clients. It can get a bit hectic during the festival season when everyone wants to look their best. But mostly, it’s a steady flow of familiar faces. We like the community feel of being in Sadashiv Peth. It’s just us doing our job in a small corner of Vishnu Sadan.
