Master Leather Works

You can find us at 301, Narayan Peth, right near the Vijay Talkies Chowk on Laxmi Road. It’s a very old and traditional part of the city, and it gets incredibly busy with shoppers, especially in the evenings. We’ve been doing leather work here for a long time. The shop is small and it always has that distinct smell of fresh leather and strong glue. We do a lot of custom work and repairs, so people often come in with specific ideas or shoes that need fixing. It’s not like those big modern shops; here, you usually talk directly to the person who is going to be doing the stitching. We have our tools laid out on the wooden benches, and there's usually a project halfway finished sitting near the front window. The traffic outside on Laxmi Road is constant and loud, but once you're inside, we just focus on the needles and the thread. We don't have a big catalog to show people. Most of our customers find us because they live in the neighborhood or their parents have been coming here for decades. Sometimes we run out of a certain type of buckle and have to wait for the delivery guy to fight through the traffic to get to us. It's a simple life. We start the day by cleaning the storefront and then we get to work on the pile of orders. It’s steady work and we enjoy being part of the community and meeting people.
