New Sunrise Seeds Agency is located at Shop No. 4 in the Madhyavarti Bhawan, which is part of the Shetkari Niwas in the Market Yard. Being in Shetkari Niwas means we are right where the farmers are. Our shop is small, but it’s filled from floor to ceiling with different kinds of seeds for all sorts of crops. We spend a lot of our time talking to farmers who come in from the surrounding villages. They usually want to know what’s been growing well or what they should try for the next season. We don't give them a big sales pitch; we just tell them what we’ve heard from other growers and what we have in stock. The Market Yard is a hectic place, especially during the sowing season when everyone is in a hurry. Our shop can get pretty crowded, and there’s usually a thin layer of dust on everything from the bags of seeds. We have a small desk in the back where we keep the books, but mostly we are out front helping people. It’s a seasonal life. When it’s busy, it’s really busy, and when it’s not, we spend time cleaning the shop or organizing the inventory. It’s honest work and we’ve been doing it at this same spot for years. People know they can find us here at Shop No. 4 and we usually have the kettle on for visitors.
