Our office for Mahatme Dye Chem Pvt Ltd is on Bhandarkar Road, right near the Bhandarkar Institute at number 852. It’s a nice area with a lot of big trees, which helps keep things a bit cooler during the summer months. The building itself is older, and you can tell from the way the stairs creak when you walk up. Inside, we have a lot of glass jars and samples of different dyes and chemicals sitting on the shelves. There is a specific smell in the air here, a mix of old paper and something slightly sweet from the chemicals we handle. It’s not a huge space, but it’s enough for the few of us who work here every day. The desks are covered in folders and logbooks because everything has to be written down. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just looking at color charts. Sometimes the ink gets on your fingers and won't come off for a couple of days. We don't have fancy decorations on the walls, just a few calendars and a clock that’s five minutes fast. It’s a quiet place mostly, unless someone is moving crates in the back. We take our lunch breaks together usually, just sitting around the small table in the corner. It's been like this for quite some time now, just a steady routine in a busy part of the city. We aren't doing anything flashy, just keeping the business going year after year.
