Mahagowri Fashions

Mahagowri Fashions is located at No 13 on Thiruvenkatam Street in the Gugai area. It’s a quiet residential-looking street, but there is a lot of work going on behind the doors. Our place is basically a large house that we’ve turned into a workspace. We have rolls of cloth stacked up in the front room. In the back, there are a few tailors working on sewing machines. You can hear the rhythmic clicking of the needles all day long. We deal with different types of garments. It’s a messy place with threads on the floor and scraps of fabric everywhere. We don't have a fancy display window. If you want to see what we have, you just have to come inside and look through the bundles. The lighting is just regular tube lights. We have a big wooden table in the middle where we cut the fabric. We usually have the radio playing in the background. My family helps out with the packing and checking the finished pieces. It’s a local business and we know most of our neighbors. We don't do big marketing campaigns. We just make the clothes and send them out. It’s a practical way to earn a living, and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time now. The house is always full of colors and the smell of new fabric.
