Mafoi

Being at 1276, 1St A Cross in Bangalore means dealing with a lot of noise from the street. This city is always moving, and our little corner is no different. Mafoi is tucked away in a spot that’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for the number. Inside, it’s mostly just desks, computers, and a lot of filing cabinets. We don’t have any of those bean bags or fancy break rooms you see in the news. It’s just a regular office with some old wooden cupboards and a water cooler that makes a loud glugging sound. The 1St A Cross area gets really crowded during the evening, so we usually try to wrap things up before the traffic gets too bad. We spend our time talking to people looking for work and writing down notes in our diaries. The floor tiles are a bit worn down in the places where people stand the most. We have a small window that looks out onto the street, but mostly we’re focused on the screens. Bangalore weather is usually okay, but when it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud we have to speak up. It’s a plain place, honestly. We don’t have a big mission statement on the wall. Just some maps and a clock that’s five minutes fast. It’s just a few of us here doing the daily grind in this part of Karnataka India.
