Kisansarathi Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at Gat Number 1 in Gazipur. This is in the Paithan area, which isn't very far from where the big dam is located. We are a group of local farmers who simply got tired of the middlemen taking away most of the profit before we even saw a rupee. So, we decided to get together and register this company properly. The name we chose means the farmer's guide, and that is what we try to be for each other during the tough times. We use a small, basic building on the edge of the fields as our main meeting spot. It is very practical and stays close to where the actual work happens every day. We focus mostly on getting quality inputs like seeds and fertilizers for all our members. In Paithan, we are lucky to have some decent soil, but the market side of things can be very cruel to a small farmer. We try to organize our transport together so we can save a bit of money on the high fuel costs. Sometimes our meetings get a bit loud because everyone has a different opinion, but that is just how we solve our problems. We are not some big corporation with directors and expensive cars. We are just neighbors who have lived here all our lives. We deal with pests and low rain every year. This company is our way of trying to get ahead.
