Kawedia Interiors

Kawedia Interiors is located right in the Camp area, just besides Kadiwala School at number 2144. It’s a very lively spot because of the school nearby, and you can hear the children playing or the bell ringing throughout the day. The shop is usually full of different samples, like bits of wood, fabric swatches, and catalogs that have been thumbed through many times. There is a constant fine layer of dust from all the materials, no matter how much we try to wipe things down. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept in the back room. The front window gets a lot of sun in the afternoon, which makes the samples look different than they do under the indoor lights. We spend a lot of time measuring things and sketching out ideas on scrap paper. It’s not a high-end showroom with bright spotlights; it’s more of a workspace where we figure out how to make things fit into people's homes. Customers often come in with their own drawings or photos, and we sit at the old wooden table to talk through what is possible. It gets a bit crowded when more than three people are inside at once, but we manage. The street outside is always busy with cycles and people walking, which adds to the general noise of the place. We keep the doors open most of the time to stay connected to the neighborhood.
