We are the Karegaon Agri and Farmers Producer Company. You can find us at House Number 358 in Karegaon village, which is over in the Ambegaon area of Pune district. We are basically just a group of local people who grew up around these fields. Farming is what we know, so it made sense to start a company that represents us. Our office isn’t much to look at; it’s just a house where we keep the books and meet up after the day’s work is done. There is always a lot to talk about, like the price of fertilizer or when the rain is finally going to come. We don't use any fancy corporate language because that’s not who we are. We are out in the dirt most of the time. We work with the other farmers in Karegaon to try and get better deals for everyone. It’s a collective effort. Sometimes it’s frustrating when things don't go as planned, like a bad harvest or a machine breaking down, but we help each other out. We don’t have a website or a marketing person. If you want to talk to us, you usually just have to show up at the house or find us in the fields. It’s a simple way of living and working. We just want to make sure the farming in this part of Ambegaon stays strong for the next generation. It is just honest work.
