Our place is over at Plot No. 31 in Lonikand, out toward Wagholi. It’s a busy area these days with all the new buildings going up, but Kalyani Bricks Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. stays focused on what’s happening inside our yard. We have a lot of space out here to stack everything up properly. Making bricks takes a lot of patience and a good eye for the fire. We’ve had some long days where things didn't go right, but we just start over and keep at it. It’s not a clean job by any means. There’s always dust on our clothes and boots, and the heat from the ovens is no joke in the middle of summer. We don't have some big corporate philosophy; we just want to make sure the bricks are solid and ready to go for the builders. The trucks come and go all day, taking loads to different sites around Wagholi and beyond. Sometimes the roads get a bit crowded, making it tough for the drivers, but we manage. We’ve been at this spot for a bit now, and we know the land well. It’s just us and the machines and the raw earth most of the time. We don't put on any airs about what we do. It’s just manufacturing, plain and simple, and we try to keep the stacks organized so we know what’s what when someone calls. It's a living and we're used to the grind by now.
