Our spot is on Kumthekear Road in Sadashiv Peth. If you know this part of Pune, you know it is full of history and very narrow lanes. Kalika Interior And Architect fits right into this neighborhood. We don’t have a big sign or a glass front. It’s a more traditional setting where we spend our mornings drinking tea and going over the schedule. The Peth area is always bustling with activity, and sometimes it is a struggle just to find a place to park a scooter. Our office is a bit old-fashioned, which we like. There are blueprints spread out on almost every flat surface. We handle both the architecture side and the interior stuff, so there is never a dull moment. We deal with all sorts of clients, from families renovating an old room to people building something new from scratch. It is hard work and sometimes things go wrong, like a delivery being late or a measurement being slightly off. We just deal with it and move on. We don’t use fancy software for everything; sometimes a hand-drawn plan feels more real. Being on Kumthekear Road means we are right in the heart of the city’s trade. We know the local shops and the craftsmen nearby quite well. It’s a community-driven way of working and it suits us just fine. We aren't looking for awards; we just want the houses we work on to be sturdy.
