Kartik Garment

We've been at this spot in Kalamboli for a while now. It’s room L 24 in Sector 3, just a regular place where we do our garment work. The area stays pretty active during the day. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded with all the material coming in and going out, but that is how it goes when you’re busy making clothes. We started small and stayed that way, mostly because we know the people around here. My cousin helps out sometimes when we have too many shirts or pants to finish by Friday. The building isn't anything fancy, just a solid block where everyone knows each other. You can hear the machines running if you walk down the hall. We spend most of our time at the cutting table or checking the stitching before things get packed. It is a lot of repetitive work, but we are used to the rhythm of it. Some days the lights flicker a bit when the neighbors turn on their heavy gear, but we just keep going. We keep a few chairs for when folks drop by to discuss what they need. Most of the time, the floor is covered in scrap fabric and thread, which we sweep up every evening before locking up the LIG room. It’s a simple setup. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just the machines, the fabric, and enough space to get the job done right here in Kalamboli.
