John Paul Slum Dev Project Pune 06

Our main base for the John Paul Slum Dev Project Pune 06 is actually out in A P Chitali, near the station in Rahata. It is quite a distance from the city, but it puts us right in the heart of the Ahmednagar district. The office is very basic, just some chairs, a couple of old tables, and a lot of paperwork. We spend a lot of time traveling between here and the areas where the projects are. It is hard work and often quite dusty, but that is just how it goes. We do not have a big budget for fancy things. Most of our resources go straight into the work we are doing on the ground. The people here have been doing this for a long time. It is not something you can explain easily with charts or graphs. You just have to be there and see the reality of it. We take our meals together and discuss what needs to be fixed or who needs help next. It is a very human way of working. There are no corporate layers here. If something needs doing, we just figure out a way to do it. It is about the people and the place, nothing more. We start our mornings with a quick chat and then we are out on the road. That is just how our life is.
