Jehagir Hospital

Jehagir Hospital is right on Station Road, across from Ruby Hall Clinic. It’s a very noisy spot because of all the traffic coming and going from the station. There are always rickshaws honking and people rushing around outside our doors. Inside, it’s a bit calmer, but not by much. We have people coming in at all hours, some just needing a quick check and others staying for a few days. The building has been here for years, and you can tell by the way the floors look in certain hallways. We don't have those fancy automatic doors that some of the newer places have, you just walk right in. The nurses are usually running around with clipboards and there is always a smell of antiseptic in the air. Sometimes the lift takes a while to arrive, so people just take the stairs if they’re able. We have a lot of beds, and most of them are full most of the time. It’s a busy life here. We get our supplies delivered in the back and sometimes the trucks block the narrow lane. It’s not a perfect setup, but it’s where we work. We see people from all over who just got off the train and realized they weren't feeling right. We do our best to help them out and get them on their way. It’s just a standard hospital doing standard hospital things on a very busy road.
