Jay Kali Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our office is at house number 184 in Gavhali, which is in the Kannad area. It’s at Krushnabai B Nikamh's place. We are a farmer producer company, which basically means we are a bunch of local farmers who teamed up. We do this to help each other out with the selling and the buying of what we need for the fields. Farming in Kannad has its ups and downs depending on the season, so having a company helps us stay a bit more stable. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who look after the books and talk to the buyers. It’s a lot of legwork, going from one farm to another to see how the crops are coming along. We aren't trying to be some big national corporation. We just want to make sure the people in Gavhali get what they need. Our records are mostly kept by hand or on a simple computer in the corner of the room. It gets a bit noisy sometimes when everyone gathers to talk about the harvest. We deal with the practical side of agriculture, from fertilizers to finding a truck to move the bags. It’s a tough business and there aren't many holidays, but it's the life we chose. We’re just regular folks from Kannad working together to make things a little bit easier for everyone involved in the group. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
