We started this crane business in Katraj because there is always something needing a lift around this part of town. Our spot is near Wonder City. It is a busy area and you can hear the traffic and the horns all day long. We have a few different cranes parked up and ready for work. Some days are slow and we just sit around cleaning the gear or checking the tires, but then other days everyone calls at once. It is mostly local work. We help with trucks that have quit or building materials that need to go up high for the new apartments. Being near the highway helps us get to people faster than if we were tucked away. The guys who work here are mostly local folks who know the roads well. It is a tough way to make a living sometimes because the weather does not always cooperate. If it rains heavy, the ground gets soft and makes the cranes hard to stabilize. We just deal with it as it comes. There is no corporate manual or anything like that here. We just know how the machines feel and what they can do. If you walk by Wonder City, you will probably see our yellow machines sitting there in the lot. It is a simple operation. We take the calls, we drive out, and we do the heavy work. It is honest and it keeps us busy. We do not spend much time in an office. (251 words)
