Our spot is in the Rajkiran Building, which sits on Survey No 22 and 46. It is right on the Pune Satara Road in Balaji Nagar. Dhankawadi is a very busy area, and being on the main road means there is always something going on outside. We are near Pawar Hospital, so that’s a good landmark for anyone trying to find the building for the first time. The building itself has been around for some time and shows its age. We are up a flight of stairs that are a bit narrow and steep. Once you get inside, it’s just a standard classroom setup. We have the usual benches and a board at the front. The windows look out toward the street, so you hear the buses and horns all day long. Sometimes we have to raise our voices a bit to be heard over the traffic outside. It gets quite warm in the summer, but the fans keep things moving. We usually keep some extra chalk and markers in the drawer of the main desk. The carpet is a bit worn out in the entryway where everyone wipes their feet. It is just a practical place to work and study. No one comes here for the scenery or the decor. We spend our hours here going through books and talking. It’s a busy building with other shops, so there is always a bit of a buzz from the neighboring businesses.
