Hotel Varadayini

This place is tucked into Pashan Suvernapuri Society, over in Chikoowadi on Jetalpur Road 5. It is a bit of a residential area, so it’s not as crazy as the main market, but we still get plenty of people coming through during the day. We have a simple dining room with fans that creak a little bit when they’re on high speed. The kitchen is right at the back and you can hear the pans hitting the stove all through the lunch hour. It’s a family-run kind of feeling, even if we aren't all related to each other. We’ve got some plants out front that we try to water every day, though sometimes we forget when it gets busy. The menu is just printed on some plain paper and we don't change it much because people like the same things. Most of our customers live right here in the society or work in the small offices nearby. We know their names and how they like their food usually. It’s not a place for a fancy date or anything, just a spot to get a meal that is just regular home-style cooking. We spend a lot of time prepping vegetables in the morning and cleaning up at night. The street outside is usually quiet except for the occasional car or the kids playing in the afternoon. It is just a steady, honest business in a quiet corner of Pashan. We don't have much to say about ourselves other than we are here every day.
