Hotel Durga

Hotel Durga is right on Satara Road 25. It is a small place where we serve everyday food to whoever stops by. The kitchen is right at the back and the smell of spices and cooking oil fills the whole room. We have about ten tables, and they are usually full during the afternoon. Satara Road is always loud with horns and engines, so it never feels quiet inside the shop. We don't have a big menu, just the regular dishes that we know how to make well. The staff consists of just a few family members and a couple of helpers. We do all the washing and the prep work ourselves. Sometimes the water supply is a bit slow, so we have to store it in big drums. We don't have any decorations or soft music playing. It is just a plain room with a fan that clicks a bit when it’s on high speed. People come here because it’s convenient and the food is ready quickly. We have been at this location for a long time now, so we know most of the shopkeepers nearby. We open up early to start the tea and snacks and we don't close until the street starts to quiet down at night. It is a lot of hard work and we are usually exhausted by the end of the day, but that is just how running a small hotel goes. We just keep going because the work needs to be done.
