Our spot is number 481 in the Marketyard at Gultekdi. If you’ve ever been to the Gultekdi market, you know it is a massive place and it can be pretty confusing to find your way around. We are right in the thick of the trading action. Every morning there is a rush of trucks and laborers carrying heavy sacks on their backs. Hariyana Trading Company has been in this stall for a while. It is a lot of shouting and negotiating prices and checking the quality of the goods. We don't have a fancy office; it's mostly just some chairs, a desk covered in bills, and piles of whatever we are trading that week. Dust is everywhere in the market, so we just accept that as part of the job. We deal with farmers and other traders all day long. It's a lot of handshakes and keeping your word. We don't have a website or a social media manager. We just show up, open the shutters, and start the day’s business. It can be exhausting when the market is particularly busy, but that’s how we make a living. We keep our records in big books and try to stay organized despite all the noise outside. It is a simple trading life in the heart of the yard, and we wouldn't really know what to do with ourselves anywhere else. There is always something new to trade and someone new to talk to.
