Gurunanak

We are located in Kharadi at the 4th Cross in the Guru Mahal Extension area on Abagare Main Road. This part of town has grown a lot lately so there is always construction noise nearby. Our building is a simple one and we have been here since before all the big offices arrived. It is a general place where we sell stuff people need for their houses. We keep things like rice bags and pulses stacked up in the corners. The metal shutters are a bit rusty and they squeak quite loudly when we open up in the morning. I spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates on the packets and making sure nothing is sitting too long. The lighting inside is a bit dim because we only have a couple of tube lights. Sometimes we have to use a flashlight to find things on the top shelves. There is a small desk where I do all the accounts with a pen and a notebook. It is not computerized or anything like that. People from the nearby apartments walk over when they forget to buy something at the big supermarket. We chat about the weather or the traffic on the main road. It is just a small local business trying to keep things going day by day. We usually close up around nine in the evening and head home. The street is much quieter by then.
