Gokul Sweets & Dry Fruit

Gokul Sweets & Dry Fruit is down on Thergaon Subhramanya Chetti Road. We have a lot of glass jars filled with different kinds of nuts and dried fruits, and then the trays of sweets right next to them. My family has been doing this for a while, and we just like the routine of it. We spend a lot of time sorting through the almonds and cashews to make sure everything looks alright before we put it out. The shop smells like cardamom and toasted nuts most of the time. Thergaon is a growing area, but our shop still feels like an old-fashioned place. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just open the shutters in the morning and wait for people to come in. Some people come in just for a handful of raisins, and others want the heavy boxes of barfi. We try to keep the scales accurate and the prices fair, which is what keeps the neighbors coming back. The light in the shop isn't very bright, and the wooden shelves have some scratches on them from years of moving boxes around. It’s a quiet kind of work, weighing things out and wrapping them in paper. We don't make any big promises, we just show up and do the job every day on Subhramanya Chetti Road. We just hope that people find what they need when they stop by our counter.
