Goa Dry Fruit is situated at number 483 in the Naroda GIDC Estate, which is part of the Gultekdi area in Ahmedabad. Being in an industrial estate means things are a bit dusty and there are big trucks moving around all the time. It is not like a fancy mall shop. We spend a lot of our time sorting through bags of almonds, cashews, and raisins. The smell inside the shop is actually quite nice because of all the dried fruits and nuts. We have large scales for weighing everything and rows of plastic containers and glass jars. A lot of our business comes from people who want to buy in bulk for festivals or weddings. We don’t have a big marketing team or a polished brand image. It’s just us working in the heat of Ahmedabad. Sometimes the humidity makes things difficult but we keep everything sealed up tight. The floor is usually a bit dusty from the constant movement of sacks. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and take down orders. It gets really busy during the Diwali season and we end up staying here until midnight some days. We don’t have many chairs for customers so people usually just stand around the counter while we pack their stuff. It’s a very practical way of doing business without any extra fluff or unnecessary decorations. We like it here and keep things moving.
