Gd Apte & Co. Chartered Accountant is situated over in Narayan Peth. Specifically, we are in Block Number 12 of the Naval Co-op Society at 389. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to some of the main roads, which is nice when you need to concentrate on audits and tax filings. Narayan Peth has its own character, very traditional and filled with history. Our office is just a regular room where we keep our computers and all the physical files that seem to never stop growing. The society building is well-known around here. We’ve spent many long hours sitting in those chairs, especially when March comes around and everyone is in a rush. There’s a ceiling fan that hums a bit too loud and a view of the neighboring buildings from the window. It isn’t a high-rise office with a view, but it’s where we do our best thinking. We handle the usual stuff—taxation, accounting, and helping people make sense of their finances. Sometimes the neighbors from the society stop by for a chat or to ask for help with their personal returns. It feels more like a community than just a place of business. We try to keep things simple and avoid the complicated jargon when we can. Just plain talk and hard work is what happens in Block 12 every day. We usually lock up around six and head home through the narrow lanes, thinking about the numbers for the next day.
