Down here on Airport Road at the A To Z Industrial Estate, things move pretty fast. Foton Motors Manufacturing India Pvt Ltd is tucked away among a lot of other industrial units near G K Margs. It’s a place filled with the sounds of tools and the movement of heavy parts. We aren't a showroom with shiny floors and bright lights. It’s a working factory environment where things get a bit greasy and dusty. There are always trucks coming in and out, bringing in parts or taking away what we’ve worked on. The office part is just a few desks squeezed into a corner with glass windows so we can see what’s happening on the floor. We spend a lot of time looking at technical drawings and talking to the guys who are actually handling the assembly. It can be quite loud, so you have to raise your voice to be heard sometimes. We’ve got a lot of spare tires and metal frames sitting around. The commute to get here can be a bit of a grind with the airport traffic, but we’re used to it by now. Everyone here wears work boots and rugged clothes because that’s what the job requires. It’s not a glamorous life, but there’s a sense of satisfaction in seeing something being built from the ground up every day. We usually grab tea from the cart outside around four.
