Electronica Plas. Mach. Ltd. is based on the second floor of the Electronic Co-Operative Estate Ltd. We are in Unit No. 28. Being up on the second floor means we have to use the freight lift quite a bit for our heavier stuff. The estate is a big building with a lot of different businesses all doing their own thing. It can be a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it. In our unit, the space is mostly taken up by the machinery and workbenches. It isn't a quiet place. There is always the sound of something running or someone working on a part. We don't have a fancy reception area. When you walk in, you’re pretty much right there where the work happens. The lighting is mostly fluorescent, and we keep the windows open when the weather allows for some fresh air. Our day starts early before the heat really sets in. We keep track of everything on clipboards and old ledgers. It's a very manual process here. Most of us have been working in this field for a long time, so we just know the machines inside out. We don't bother with much else besides the job. At lunch, we usually eat together in the small corner we cleared out for a table. It’s a basic setup but it’s how we like it. We focus on the metal and the builds rather than making the place look trendy.
