Durgawahini Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Durgawahini Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is a group of women farmers based in Bibi, which is in the Lonar area. We operate out of House Number 1681/34. It’s a local effort and we take a lot of pride in what we do together. Farming is usually seen as a man’s job in some places but here the women are taking charge of the business side too. We meet up at the house to talk about our crops and how we can get a better price for them. It’s not always easy balancing the farm work with the family stuff and then doing the company paperwork on top of it. But we help each other out. If one of us is busy another person steps in. The office is just a room in the house where we keep the registers and the stamps. Lonar is famous for the crater but for us it’s just home where we grow our food and try to build something for our children. We don't use fancy advertisements or have a big marketing budget. Our name travels by word of mouth in the village and the surrounding areas of Tq. Lonar. We are just simple women working the land and trying to be smart about how we sell what we grow. It’s a lot of hard work but we are doing it for ourselves. We hope to keep going bit by bit and showing everyone that we can run a company right from our own homes and fields.
